I was corrected by an email from Mrs. Aida Ventriere-Zayas (see below) that it was NOT "Angel L. Zayas" (Democrat) but "Eleodoro E. Zayas", a registered Republican. Mrs. Ventriere-Zayas was until recently a Miami GOP staff member for the past 4 years (related articles) and an elected member of Republican Executive Committee of Miami-Dade County (REC).
It was this Eleodoro E. Zayas that was appointed as the time keeper during the REC Election. However, I have not received any response as to why a non-REC member and spouse of a staff member would be participating in directing the election?
Thinking out loud, why was Mrs. Zayas fired from her position shortly after the REC Election?
If fundraising for the REC is supposed to be at its greatest during BIG election years like the year 2012, why was Mrs. Ventriere-Zayas fired with the excuse that the REC has no money?
The Miami GOP should have have plently of money in their coffers to continue supporting a staff and party operations into the year 2013. Incidentally, the executive director Yulexis Argota was also dismissed while the highest paid staffer Mariela Jewett (also an REC member) remains alone to operate a very large office space in the Doral area.
The REC members I have spoken further admit that the accounting since the Lincoln Day Dinner (the biggest fundraising event of the year) has not been reported in detail to the committee. How much money exactly does the Miami GOP have in their bank accounts?
Below is the email I received from Mrs. Ventriere-Zayas regarding our mistaken claim that her husband is Angel and that he is a Democrat. She addresses herself only by "Zayas" in her last name although her legal name is "Ventriere-Zayas."

Aida Ventriere-Zayas
Mrs. Zayas' many contributions, as well as those of her husband's, are WELL known within the REC; few people have dedicated as much time and effort to pulling off successful events then this power couple, not to mention Mrs. Zayas' stellar day-to-day running of the office, with its varied and never-ending responsibilities. firing her was not only short-sighted, it was outright stupid. instead of getting rid of competent and productive members such as Mrs. Zayas, perhaps Miami-Dade would be better served getting rid of the other "power couple" that has been sucking the life out of the Dade REC and the party for 19 years plus...enough is enough.
